Naxos

Aegean Sea, Greece

Naxos, the largest island of Cyclades, lays E-SE of the popular island complex. It is a very fertile island know also for it’s natural beauties as well as it’s long history. Over the years, it has managed to maintain the traditional colours.
A visitor will be amazed by the long sandy beaches and the turquoise waters that surround the island.
Contrary to the adjacent islands of Paros or Mykonos, Naxos is a rather quiet island, with a moderate nightlife that makes it ideal for family vacations.
Portara, the marble gate monument from the 6th century BC, and the Archaeological Museum which is located in a Venetian building are just two of the many “must-visit” places the island has to offer.
Make sure you spare some time to visit some of the numerous villages such as Apeiranthos (a mountainous village full of colours, and home to five museums), or Filoti (another mountainous village built on a rock).
Naxos is also famous for its agricultural products such as potatoes and tomatoes and also for its local wine. Recently opened a local brewery producing a rather tasty beer!
Naxos will offer to the visitor a pleasant break from the intensity of vacations as it is an ideal stop-over to recharge the batteries and continue to the next destination!
